Sylvia Lauder
My work explores memory and what may remain, be remembered or forgotten over time. Memory is the retention and retrieval of experiences, many of which may appear to be repetitive, but each is unique with respect to time. Different materials play an essential part to signify the concept of memory in my work, which is in various forms. The creation of artwork is a journey of experience and analogous to the function of memory; the artist must select, remove, retrieve, adapt and balance.
