'Drawing Pet Portraits using Pastel Pencils on Velour Paper'
Beaufort School is to be the setting for a week-long summer school for artistic adults this summer, hosted by the Gloucester Arts and Craft Group. Courses will be available in acrylics, botanical art, calligraphy, life drawing and watercolour painting.
5 day course
This is a hands-on drawing workshop, where you will learn the layering techniques involved in using coloured pastel pencils to draw realistic dog and cat pet portraits on velour paper.
Frances will demonstrate and teach you the techniques she uses and you will be provided with pre-outlined paper to practise the techniques yourself with guidance from Frances. This workshop will cover briefly how to draw an accurate outline of the animal from photographs, but will mainly concentrate on the techniques used for the details of eyes, nose, mouth, ears and fur.
Frances’s workshops are suitable for all levels of drawing ability/experience whether you are a beginner, just starting to draw or you are already drawing but would like to take your art one step further. Frances’s workshops are also ideal for those who would like to try a different medium along with others in a supportive, friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
We will be using Faber-Castell Pitt Pastel Pencils and Hahnemuhle velour paper for pastels during the workshop.
All the pre-outlined paper and pencils needed are provided, along with a flat board to work on. Please bring your own table easel if you prefer to work at an angle.
All the information will be available from the Gloucester Arts and Crafts Website
