Flying the flag for Music12

Flying the flag for Music12

Members from Cheltenham Open Studios have been involved in a project for the Cheltenham Music Festival where groups from different sections of the local community have created a magnificent display in celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

In keeping with the Jubilee and the wider Festival themes, each group has individually marked, dressed and decorated bunting flags, taking their cues from the vibrant colours of some of the countries of the Commonwealth represented in the programme, and from royal pageantry. The result is a glorious 'technicolor of the globe' that will be kept up for all of the Town-Hall performances during Music12.

Participating groups and schools:

Glenfall Primary School
St Johns Primary School
Charlton Kings Primary School
The National Star College
The results of a bunting competition for the children from Rosehill Street (held as part of the Street Party following the recent gas explosion)
A children's art group of all ages from Cheltenham School of Fine Art
ArtAble, an adult group with difficulties and disabilities from Deep Space Studios
Residents from the Knole (care home of Langley House Trust)
Liha Okunniwa from the Art Gallery and Museum

We would like to thank all the individual artists and helpers who have given their time to go into the various settings and to help make up the bunting, especially Jaynie Tricker and Chantal Freeman.
