Visual Art in our Hospitals

Art has the power to transform impersonal, sterile environments into engaging and absorbing spaces. This is particularly true in hospitals, where art can have a positive effect on patients, staff and visitors.

Cheltenham Open Studios is a not-for-profit association of artists seeking to engage local people with the art being created on their doorstep. As advocates for visual art, we are committed to ensuring that spending cuts don’t mean art disappears completely from our hospitals’ walls.

We have just hung a new batch of members work in the Link Gallery and cabinets in the Star gallery for our 3d artists work. We also dedicate the Star Gallery hanging space to schools, colleges and community groups to give them the opportunity to create their own exhibitions. Currently showing is Gloscol evening class for adults with learning disabilities, whose Art Tutor, Jo Humphreys is one of our members.
