Sarah Loveday

I came to painting through a career looking at pictures in reproduction and in museums and galleries, having studied History of Art at the Courtauld Institute. I work in oils 'sur le motif' or from sketches and drawings done on the spot. My inspirations are the landscape in which I am lucky enough to live (on the Cotswold escarpment above Winchcombe) and those I encounter on travels abroad. My influences are 20th century painters of the British school: Ivon Hitchens, Paul Nash, John Piper.
