Paintings by Narguesse Stevens

Paintings showing the evolution of paintings from a rank beginner to artwork ten years on. I am largely self-taught, though started in 2008 on a ship going around the world. Painting lessons were offered, so I pitched up. Found that I loved it, even though I had never tried painting before. I have kept on going, trying first watercolours (not my thing, in the end), pastels (with a wonderful teacher in southwest France) and now working in acrylic since my return to England.
I learn mainly by copying paintings of all types, just anything that grabs my attention. I then try to put my own stamp on it.
For the past few years I have painted seascapes and landscapes mainly from own imagination, though living in Devon certainly was inspirational for subjects and scenes to paint. I have never exhibited before, but thought that I ought to have a go. I frequently go to the exhibitions at the Garden Gallery in Cheltenham, and thought it was high time I put my work on show. As we say in America, "let's run it up the flagpole and see if anyone salutes".
My paintings are shown on my Facebook page called Paintings by Narguesse.
