Anna Bagnall Jewellery
My inspiration has always come from the sea. It's such a nostalgic place, full of childlike wonder and hidden treasures waiting to be discovered. I remember the exact moment it all started, I was lying on a beach in Thailand and I could hear the sound of the coral tinkling under the waves. I grabbed my sketch book and started to draw the coral forms and textures, and my first jewellery recollection was born.
I wanted to encapsulate precious memories into keepsakes to wear forever.
Jewellery is so much more than just an accessory. It's a way to hold on to a moment to carry a feeling of a special place with you. It's like a photograph in your hand. You get to keep it, touch it and wear it like a memory. Through my jewellery, I will help you hold on to your own precious memories, a piece of your story that you can carry forever.
I am a Cheltenham based Jeweller who graduated from a Design Crafts degree in 2009 from DeMontfort University, specialising in silversmithing in my final year. As a self employed art teacher, I share my skills and passion for creating with others, by running art and jewellery workshops.
I use acid etching, a print making technique, to showcase coral inspired patterns on the surface of silver. Beach treasures are immortalised in silver using the ancient process of lost wax casting, combined with silversmithing techniques to create jewellery that connects the wearer with nature. My latest rock pool inspired collection includes granulation, I melt waste sterling silver down into small silver balls and fuse and solder them onto more recycled silver to represent barnacles, shells and other textural beach treasures. Using recycled materials is important to me.
