Helen denDulk
Fibre Artist, Helen denDulk, lives and works in an old Tudor town house in the centre of Tewkesbury. For years she specialised in crochet; creating abstract, architectural wall art and hanging sculptures. More recently, she has been making yarn-wrapped pieces which involves canvas or board being wrapped repeatedly in order to build a textured relief. The Bauhaus Movement has always inspired Helen and it is reflected in these pieces.
Born in Tasmania, Australia Helen moved to the UK in 1991 and taught Drama, English, Textiles and Art in secondary schools in Oxfordshire, then Cambridgeshire for twenty years. She left classroom teaching in 2011 to do a Fine Art degree at Northampton University which she found a thoroughly enjoyable and liberating experience.
Also in 2011, Helen joined the artists collective at Westbury Arts Centre in Milton Keynes and rented a studio there for seven years where she was able to develop her skills and grow as an artist.
"Working with yarns has always been my passion. I love exploring different techniques and experimenting with the to create progressively more inspired Fibre Art."
