Painting
I am attempting something great within the restrictive framework of realism; examining the relationships between the sitter, the artist and the viewer; and how paint and mark making can be destroyed as well as built upon. These works also explores the themes of rumination, absurdism and the occupation of time.
I want the realism to draw you in before you grasp; the weight, the history, the human condition; as surface, perfectionism, people breakdown. Hope may lie in the breakdown, in the edges, in the extremes, heading somewhere photographic realism alone cannot take you.
