Liz Bruce
I consider myself extremely fortunate to be able to spend this part of my life creating art in such an iconic setting.
I see parallels in my former career in Critical Care to that of my work as an artist. My career required application of precise and technical skills coupled with compassion and ‘therapeutic use of self’ or ‘presence’.
In painting, as in nursing ‘presence’ matters.
I began painting in watercolour, drawn to the way it captures the light, colour and character of the Cotswolds where I live.
Over time, Ive also used soft pastel, and oil and cold wax - each offering new ways to interpret what I see.
Each piece is my response to the landscape - an attempt to convey not just how it looks, but the atmosphere and feeling each engenders.
