Mixed media Printmaking Sculpture

I'm a 2nd Year BA Fine Art student at the Uni of Gloucs. I found art later than most having been distracted by poetry for too long.
I make figurative sculpture, collage and assemblage work using a range of materials including cardboard, vinyl, resin, plaster, wax, galvanised steel and cement. I also enjoy life drawing and landscape drawing with charcoal and 14B pencil.
I am interested in gesture, in reducing figurative work to essential lines and forms and experimenting with surface, texture and materials. I enjoy combining materials and experimenting with outcome.
I am drawn to the the work of John Summers, Tom Leaper, Lawrence Edwards and Alberto Giacometti among many others.
My practice often involves found objects as the inspiration, I use happenstance, found images and experimentation as sources of energy and ideas for my work.
I have sold work at the Cheltenham Suffolks Street Market in the past when I offered prints of acrylic paintings (insects / fruit / still ife) and landscapes in acrylic/charcoal/pencil.
I have exhibited at the Cheltenham Poetry Festival in collaboration with Phil James whose photography accompanied lines and verses of my poetry in an exhibition we called 'Concurrent'.
I have recently made a short film called 'Matins' combining moving images with the bells of churches in Venice and background conversation. I am excited to make more films.
I am interested in creative workshops, innovative curation and taking art out of the white box gallery environment and into available accessible space.
I believe in the power of art in supporting mindfulness, well-being and in inspiring creative souls to fulfil their potential.
