My work is inspired by daily walks through the local allotments and hills. The tumble-down sheds, ad-hoc water butts and disintegrating stacks of hoarded, salvaged materials take on natural forms of their own. Discarded items are piled up and tangle with the plants growing around them.
These areas often seem like weather-battered mirrors or markers of our private domestic spaces, where the battle between chaos and tidiness is constantly fought.
This subject matter provides a focus for studies of abstract and natural structures in colour and tone.
