vintage fabric paint Thread

I trained as a fashion textile designer specialising in print and graduated from Brighton University in the late 90's. I based my final collection on scaffolding, loving how a temporary structure could create interesting perspective and instant abstraction. Over the years my work has developed into two distinct themes, executed using the same media.

The first remains manmade structures. My love of scaffolding has expanded into a joy of cranes, pylons and exposed supporting steelwork of buildings under regeneration. Sometimes taking this source material as a route to abstraction.
The second is more natural; open fields and big, wide skies.
By using hand stitching alone the process can be slow. However, central to my work is the desire to convey dynamism.
